about

The European Development Days (EDD) has been Europe’s leading forum on international partnerships since 2006. Organised by the European Commission, the EDD brings the development community together each year to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. The EDD Young Leaders Programme was created in 2015.

Young leaders, who are widely recognised as experts in their field, are hand selected and vetted by the European Commission to represent the voice of youth on high-level sessions at the EDD. They are a pool of extraordinary young people with strong expertise and commitment to development issues.

Their participation in the ten day programme includes high-level meetings with officials from the European Commission as well as training on various concepts and skills. It allows them to share the views of young people on key topics relating to development, influence decision-makers and stakeholders, and develop their full potential as leaders.

This blog is an extension of the EDD Young Leaders Programme. It  was created by the young leaders and is run by alumni of the programme. It intends to promote interactive discussions, critical thought, the sharing of innovative ideas and documenting inspiring stories of youth working towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Young Leaders from different editions contribute interesting content, written or otherwise, highlighting their projects and initiatives, their views on the implementation of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, or their experiences at EDD.

Contributions are mostly from the EDD Young Leaders, however additional and relevant contributions from other young individuals and prominent leaders are also welcomed. Content should focus on but is not limited to any of the 17 SDGs.

Please contact eddyoungleaders@gmail.com if you would like to contribute to the blog.
